The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, Yemi Oyeniyi, has conducted a high-level operational visit to Sapele following the abduction of a local council chairman, affirming efforts to secure the victim’s safe release.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, said the visit formed part of a coordinated, intelligence-led response to the incident.

During the operation, the commissioner carried out an on-the-spot assessment of key locations linked to the crime, including Debro Fred Guest House, where the abduction occurred, to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack.

He also visited Ogorode Waterside, where the suspected getaway vehicle was recovered, a development expected to support ongoing forensic analysis and intelligence gathering.

Oyeniyi met with the wife of the abducted chairman and assured the family that measures were in place to secure his safe return. He also visited medical facilities where injured victims are receiving treatment.

The commissioner said security operatives, working with other agencies, had intensified efforts using credible intelligence to track down those responsible and rescue the victim.

He urged residents of Sapele and across Delta State to remain vigilant and provide useful information to law enforcement agencies.

The command reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, stating that actions are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
