Operatives of the Sagamu Area Command of the Ogun State Police Command, in collaboration with community stakeholders and sister security agencies, have arrested 146 suspects in a coordinated special raid operation tagged “Operation Keep Sagamu Safe.”

The operation, described as a proactive measure to prevent crime and address emerging security threats, was carried out across identified flashpoints within Sagamu and its environs.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed that the exercise followed a series of strategic engagements with traditional rulers, the Sagamu Local Government Council, and heads of security agencies aimed at strengthening collaborative security efforts.

He explained that the intelligence-led operation, conducted in the early hours of April 13, 2026, targeted areas where suspected criminal activities had been reported, posing threats to public peace and safety.

According to him, the operation was designed to forestall any breakdown of law and order while reinforcing security across the area.

“The operation was jointly executed by personnel of the Nigeria Police Force alongside the military, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Amotekun Corps, the Ogun State Community Security (So-Safe) Corps, and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), demonstrating a unified and proactive security response framework,” he said.

He added that the suspects are currently undergoing screening to determine their level of involvement in criminal activities. Those found culpable, he noted, will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the synergy, professionalism, and operational discipline of the security agencies involved, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and sustained efforts to ensure peace, safety, and security across Ogun State.
