Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Tokunbo Abiru, and former Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, have endorsed the governorship aspiration of Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, for 2027 election.
They described him as a well-positioned person to sustain the state’s development trajectory beyond the tenure of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Abiru expressed confidence in Hamzat’s capacity to govern the state.
Edun, however, endorsed Hamzat’s bid, citing his experience and competence.
Gbajabiamila affirmed his support for Hamzat, attesting to his competence and leadership qualities.
Meanwhile, in Badagry Division, Hamzat received widespread endorsement from political and community leaders during a consultative visit.
MEANWHILE, ahead of the APC governorship primaries’ deadline of May 21, Lanre Jim-Kamal has officially declared his intention to become the party’s flag bearer at the 2027 election, promising a five-point proposal and $50 billion from his partners to support the state’s development.
Jim-Kamal, who made his official declaration while addressing party leaders and supporters in Ikeja, at the weekend, also assured Lagos residents that within two years of his government, they will start eating rice grown within the state, as his investors have indicated interest in having rice plantation in Badagry.
He, however, highlighted his five-point agenda to include free automated education at all levels, free automated medical services at all levels, massive infrastructure development, decongestion of ‘’concentric zones’’ and human capital development.
