Loveworld Arts Academy, in collaboration with Loveworld Sports, will host the second edition of ‘Come-Unity Cup’ football and dance tournaments soon.

Head of Operations of Loveworld Arts Academy, Mr Justin Campbell, said: “The tournament is being organised in conjunction with Obafemi Owode Zonal CDC at Car Park C field, RCCG Camp, Mowe, along Lagos- Ibadan expressway, Ogun State.”

Campbell disclosed that cash prizes, certificates, medals, and trophies are to be won by participating football teams and players during the football and dance tournaments.

He further emphasised that the tournament has attracted great recognition and sponsorship from the Loveworld Global Fellowship (LGF), Loveworld Films and Art Department, and several youth bodies.

The Loveworld Arts Academy, which stands as the major organizers of this edition, has called for the event to be held quarterly to promote youth development.

Campbell noted that “United Nations has declared young people between the ages of 15 and 24 represents approximately 18 percent of the global population, or nearly 1.2 billion people.”

He stressed that “Many youths remain marginalized from social and economic opportunities, with limited access to essential resources. Eighty-seven percent of the youth population lives in developing countries, and nearly 45 percent of all youth globally live on less than 2 dollars a day.

“Youths are among the most vulnerable of all persons the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) aim to reach. Whether it is poverty, hunger, lack of education, maternal mortality, unemployment, environmental degradation, or HIV/AIDS, the impact on young people can be far greater than on their older counterparts. This is because many young people often lack access to information, schooling, social influence, and basic rights, and are often overlooked in national development agendas.”

Therefore, according to him, “young people’s participation and inclusion in efforts, such as our football and dance tournaments, aimed to ensure a successful and sustainable MDGs outcome and accelerate Nigeria’s development,” he stated.
