Ogun State Police Command has deployed adequate personnel and operational assets across strategic locations to intensify security measures ahead of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration in the state.

The strategic locations include: Eid prayer grounds, major highways, recreational centres, markets, motor parks, residential areas, and other identified public spaces.

Police Public Relations Officer DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta yesterday.

Babaseyi explained that the  deployment was aimed at ensuring visible policing, effective crowd control, early threat detection, and swift response to any emerging security concerns before, during, and after the celebration.

He also said that the Commissioner of Police CP Bode Ojajuni has ordered all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders to be on alert to ensure the security of live and properties in the state.

Police PRO added that the operatives were instructed to sustain aggressive patrols, stop-and-search operations where necessary, and ensure round-the-clock supervision of personnel within their areas of responsibility.

He noted that they were also directed to strengthen collaboration with community leaders, transport unions, and other relevant stakeholders to enhance intelligence sharing and prevent any breakdown of law and order during the festive period.

Babaseyi appealed to the residents to celebrate responsibly and remain security conscious throughout the season, assuring residents of peaceful, safe, and hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

He urged parents and guardians to closely monitor the movement and activities of their children and wards, while advising members of the public to avoid any conduct capable of disturbing public peace, including thuggery, cult-related activities, reckless driving, and other forms of disorderly behaviour.

The CP, Ojajuni, however reassured  residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to proactive policing, peace, and the protection of lives and property across the State.
