Members of the G-60 Minority Caucus in the House of Representatives on Thursday staged a protest over the lingering dispute surrounding the position of Minority Leader.

The lawmakers expressed dissatisfaction with what they described as the House leadership’s failure to resolve the leadership controversy, particularly following moves that could affect the chances of some contenders for the position.

The protest comes a day after the House adopted a resolution preventing first-term lawmakers from occupying principal officer positions, a decision that has sparked reactions within the minority caucus.

During plenary, the protesting lawmakers demanded an immediate resolution of the matter, warning that legislative proceedings could be disrupted if the leadership fails to address their concerns.

The group is reportedly backing representatives from Bayelsa and Sokoto states for the positions of Minority Leader and Deputy Minority Leader as efforts to reshape the opposition leadership structure continue.
