NNPP unveils new leadership

New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP)

The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has unveiled a new leadership structure for the party, saying it has overcome its prolonged internal crisis and is now repositioned for future elections.

The unveiling followed the recognition and uploading of the authentic leadership of the NNPP by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The National Chairman of the party, Dr Agbo Major, told newsmen in Abuja that the development was a victory for the rule of law.

Stating that the crisis in the party had dragged on for over three and a half years due to delays in the implementation of court judgements, he disclosed that the party had written to the electoral umpire for a short extension of the timetable for the submission of candidates’ details.

Major criticised INEC’s delay in complying with valid court judgments, saying the development placed the party at a disadvantage. He urged the electoral commission to act more promptly in implementing judicial decisions as a way to strengthen democracy and the rule of law.

Meanwhile, Major unveiled Ambassador Shaibu Ahmed as the Deputy Chairman, NNPP Board of Trustees, stating that the party has commenced the process of uploading candidates for elective offices and has already completed the submission of polling agents.

According to him, the party is now free from internal indiscipline and ready to rebuild its structures across the country, having restored its 2022 Constitution, manifesto, as well as original logo, in line with various court judgments, adding that all party activities would henceforth be guided by those documents.
