Katsina State Governor, Dr Dikko Radda, has expressed confidence that the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) would retain power in 2027, citing the party’s strong grassroots structures and public support in the state.
Radda was speaking at the commissioning of the “Tinubu/Dikko Women and Youth Center for 2027”, a campaign organisation which is an initiative of former governor of the state, Barr. Ibrahim Shema.
“I have no doubt, no fear and no hesitation about our chances in the next election,” the governor said, attributing his assertion to divine support, the backing of party leaders and what he described as the confidence of ordinary people in his administration’s performance.
Radda assured that the APC would unveil its campaign programmes at the appropriate time and engage opposition parties during the official campaign period.
He said the campaign organisation, with structures in all 34 local government areas, wards and polling units across the state, would strengthen mobilisation among women, youths and other supporters.
He commended former governor Shema for establishing the campaign platform, describing it as an initiative that would further consolidate the APC’s political strength in the state.
Speaking, Shema called on members of the party to support President Bola Tinubu, party Governors and candidates at both federal and state levels, to enable them win and go ahead to address the problems bedeviling the country.
Shema who is also Chairman, Nigeria Shippers Council (NSC), said some of the critical decisions taken by Tinubu and the ones taken by governor Radda may be very difficult for the governed, but that such decisions were necessary to correct the challenges facing the country.
He also called on Nigerians as well as the international community, to support the ruling party so that the varied challenges bedeviling the country would collectively be tackled.
“I am asking all men and women of goodwill in Nigeria, and our friends from the international community, to support us so that we have all hands on deck in order to fight this menace of insecurity, kidnapping, and banditry. Whether it is in Katsina, or it is in Oyo, or it is in Zamfara, or any other part of this country, what affects one affects all.
“Whatever affects a person in Katsina state affects a person in Niger Delta. Whatever affects a person in Rivers State affects a person in the northeastern province of Nigeria. Therefore, it is extremely important that we understand the purpose of governance and the duty of followership.
“Leadership can provide the leading role, but followership must equally give their maximum contribution to ensure that this country becomes peaceful, and restful, and economically viable,” he added.
