Osun 2026: We won’t create room for religious disharmony, says Oyebamiji

Bola Oyebamiji

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Oyebamiji popularly known as AMBO, on Sunday said his administration would not tolerate any tendency capable of causing religious acrimony among the citizenry.

Oyebamiji, who described religion as sensitive issue, assured that enabling environment would be created for all religions to thrive in order to promote peace and tranquility in the state.

He gave the assurance during an interactive session with the Osun State Muslim Community (OSMC) at their secretariat in Osogbo, as part of his efforts to galvanise support and engage stakeholders ahead of August 15 gubernatorial poll in Osun State.

Oyebamiji recalled that the founding fathers of the state were committed to religious unity and good governance and about the greater good of all and never created leeway for any form of dispute along religious line.

While disclosing that he had already constituted a team to assess areas of critical intervention in different sectors, including education, healthcare delivery, power generation and agriculture, the APC candidate stated workers’ welfare would be given topmost priority as an impetus to boost Osun economy.

Oyebamiji stated, “My decision to contest for the governorship seat was deliberate and intentional and like I said in different fora, we have put a team in place to look at the various sector with a view to making immediate intervention, especially power generation, education, healthcare delivery and agriculture among others in bid to push to start towards economic growth.

“And also unlike the present administration, we will be fair, just and ensure equitable distribution of resources across the various towns of the state”

Reaffirming his belief in God, he added, “I am a bonafide Muslim who has never missed anything with Islam and I am confident in Him that I will come victorious come August 15th, 2026”.

Receiving Oyebamiji and his entourage at the Osun State Muslim Community secretariat, Osogbo, President of OSMC, Alhaji Mustapha Olawuyi, lauded Oyebamiji’s commitment to the religion of Islam and humanity, stressing that “you have been part of us since the inception.’

“I must say that Oyebamiji is known to us as a good Muslim whose immense contributions to the propagation of Islam, Muslim Ummah and humanity can not be quantified. Like I said earlier, we are not partisan as an Islamic body, and we are working assiduously for the progesss of humanity in general and propagation of our faith.

“We have received AMBO and told him some of our requests particularly the need for any government coming on board to prioritise equity and justice in the distribution of resources, and most significantly, the recognition of Islamic law by the government among others things”, Olawuyi posited.
