The Federal High Court in Abuja yesterday admitted the National President of Miyetti Allah Kauta Kore, Bello Bodejo, to N2 billion bail with two sureties in the like sum.
   
Ruling in Bodejo’s bail application in the alleged $2.63 million money laundering case brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Justice Inyang Ekwo agreed that the offence was bailable and that the court has the discretionary power to exercise this in his favour.
   
Consequently, the judge ordered that one of the sureties must present three years of tax clearance before the court and must reside in Abuja. He also ordered that the second surety must have land in Abuja worth N2 billion.
   
He further ordered Bodejo to drop his international passport with the registrar of the court and not to travel outside the country without leave of the court.
   
Justice Ekwo then adjourned the matter until October 5, 6 and 7, 2026, for commencement of trial.
   
Ekwo had on July 9 remanded Bodejo in the EFCC custody following his arraignment on alleged money laundering offences, to which he pleaded not guilty on all the counts.
