The new Area Manager, National Inland Waterways Authority, Calabar Area Office ,Surveyor Abubakar Wathanafa has called for collaboration between his agency and the Cross River State Command of the Nigeria Police to enhance the safety and security of inland waterways, protect lives and property, improve regulatory compliance, and promote effective service delivery within the Authority’s area of responsibility.

The Area Manager who made the call during a courtesy call on the State Commissioner of Police said the visit was aimed at deepening the existing partnership between the Nigeria Police Force and NIWA, while formally introducing the newly posted Area Manager to the Command.

Wathanafa expressed his readiness to work in synergy with the po.ice and other security agencies in the state to protect lives and property, the waterways and improve regulatory compliance, and promote effective service delivery within the Authority’s area of responsibility.

The Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command, represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Etim Godwin, reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to fostering strong collaboration with NIWA and other sister agencies in advancing public safety.

“The Cross River State Police Command remains committed to strengthening partnerships with sister agencies to ensure the safety and security of lives, property, and critical national assets. We will continue to provide the necessary support to NIWA in promoting a safe, secure, and well-regulated inland waterway system for the benefit of all users,” he stated.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment by both agencies to sustain close cooperation, intelligence sharing, and operational synergy in addressing security concerns and enhancing safety across the inland waterways of Cross River and Ebonyi States.
