As demand for technology professionals continues to rise across Nigeria’s fast-growing digital economy, Aptech Computer Education has unveiled the 18th edition of its flagship Career Quest programme, offering prospective students scholarships of up to 50 per cent and a streamlined pathway to obtain United Kingdom degrees through its partnership with Middlesex University London.

The initiative, billed as Nigeria’s largest career seminar, is expected to hold between August 7 and 15 across Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Enugu, Calabar, Abeokuta and Ota, with virtual sessions also scheduled to enable participation by students nationwide.

The programme comes at a time when businesses across the financial services, telecommunications, manufacturing and technology sectors are intensifying investments in digital transformation, increasing demand for professionals with expertise in artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, cloud computing, data science, software engineering and animation.

Under the partnership, students who complete Aptech’s Advanced Diploma programmes will qualify for direct entry into the final year of selected bachelor’s degree programmes at Middlesex University London, including Information Technology and Business Information Systems, Business Computing and Data Analytics, Animation, and 3D Animation for Games and Films.

According to Aptech, the arrangement enables students to reduce the duration and cost of earning internationally recognised degrees while equipping them with industry-relevant skills for global employment opportunities.

Participants at the Career Quest seminars will also have the opportunity to compete in a scholarship draw offering up to 50 per cent tuition support for eligible UK degree programmes, alongside discounts on selected professional and short-term technology courses.

The organisers disclosed that more than 1,200 Nigerian students have pursued overseas education through Aptech’s international pathway programmes over the past two decades, while scholarships valued at over ₦621 million were awarded during the previous edition of Career Quest.

Students attending this year’s programme will receive career guidance from Aptech and Middlesex University experts, with sessions focusing on emerging technology disciplines, international study opportunities, networking and career development.

The initiative aligns with Nigeria’s growing digital ambitions as the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector continues to play an increasingly strategic role in economic growth. Industry estimates indicate that the sector now contributes close to one-fifth of the country’s gross domestic product, driven by rapid expansion in fintech, software development, artificial intelligence, cloud services and digital infrastructure.

With Lagos hosting several of Africa’s leading technology unicorns and demand for highly skilled digital professionals expanding across local and international markets, education providers are increasingly repositioning their curricula to produce graduates equipped for the evolving workplace.
