Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has stressed the need for public servants to be forward thinking and innovative in order implement the state’s policies and remain globally competitive.

He stated this on Monday at the official launch of Lagos State Public Service Accelerator Programme (PSAP) Cohot 2.
Themed, ‘Embedding excellence: Leadership for sustainable public service,’ he disclosed the strength of the civil service is central to achieving the vision for a prosperous and inclusive Lagos.

Represented by Lagos State Head of Service, Bode Agoro, he noted that PSAP is more than a training initiative, but strategic investment in building a new generation of public servants who are equipped to lead, innovate and deliver impactful result.

According to him, “Since the launch of the maiden cohort, we have witnessed encouraging outcomes. The participants are championing reforms, sharing knowledge and fostering a culture of collaborative and continues learning. These achievements reaffirm our belief that lasting transformation begins with the people.”

To the cohort, he advised: “Your dedication and competence will play a vital role in transforming policies. As you embark on this journey, I urge you to learn and collaborate actively and embrace the spirit of excellence. Let this experience shape you into leaders who will drive sustainable change within your respective Ministries, Departments and Agencies.”

Speaking in a similar vein, Commissioner for Establishments and Training, Afolabi Ayantayo said: “We are trying to institutionalise excellence in the Lagos State public service. Our ministries stand at the intersection of human potential. We have moved away from traditional generic training models towards high impact capacity building designed to meet specific demands of smart Lagos.”

On her part, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Establishments and Training, Olubusola Abidakun said: “Our vision is to transform the public service into a world class institution of lifelong learning. The theme is significant because excellence and ethics guarantee the delivery of high-quality service to the citizens regardless of challenges faced. The aim of the training is to provide public servants tools to navigate the complexities of twenty-first century and governance. We are training them to lead the change that Lagos deserves.”
