Over 50,000 delegates from more than 90 countries gathered in the United Kingdom for the landmark 60th Jalsa Salana (Annual Convention) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, uniting a global audience under a resounding call for peace, justice and spiritual transformation.

A prominent Nigerian delegation attended the international assembly in person, led by the Amir (Head) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria, Alhaji Alatoye Folorunso Azeez.

Concurrently, thousands of Nigerian members joined the proceedings virtually from the community’s center in Ojokoro, Lagos, under the leadership of the Deputy Amir, Alhaji Mufadhil Bankole.

Addressing the virtual gathering in Lagos, Alhaji Bankole highlighted the profound lessons the convention offers to Nigeria during a pivotal period in the nation’s history.

He noted that the gathering of people from diverse tribal, national and religious backgrounds serves as a living blueprint for peaceful coexistence.

“What Nigerians should take away from this year’s event is the call for peace,” Bankole stated. “Irrespective of tribe, religion, or faith, we come together and worship as one. It teaches us tolerance, to tolerate one another, and to preach peace and justice.”

Reflecting on Nigeria’s current economic and security challenges, Bankole emphasized that lasting national tranquility is impossible without fairness from those in authority.

“If we want peace, there must be justice. Without justice, peace is hardly attainable,” he stressed. “Our leaders must be just in everything they do. Once justice is established, peace will naturally reign in the country. Those are the two fundamental pillars: justice and peace.”

He added that Ahmadiyya Nigeria will continue to expand its peaceful outreach through MTA International, broadcasting the true, compassionate teachings of Islam across the globe.

A primary highlight of the convention was the address by the Supreme Head of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih V.

Guiding the international assembly, His Holiness urged Muslims to anchor their lives in the absolute Unity of Allah (Tawhid) and raise the standards of their worship so that divine love takes precedence over all worldly ties.

“The love of Allah should become dearer to you than every worldly relationship,” His Holiness counseled. “When you attain this state, Allah the Almighty will guide you, deliver you from trials, accept your prayers, resolve your domestic difficulties and remove the worries you have regarding the upbringing of your children.”

Leading the symbolic International Bai’at (Pledge of Allegiance), His Holiness reminded delegates that joining the community requires active moral renewal. “Everyone who has entered the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at must bring about a genuine transformation within themselves,” he stated, warning that mere verbal claims of faith carry no benefit without sincere action, steadfast prayer and obedience to divine guidance.

Reinforcing the theme of universal harmony, the Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at UK, Rafiq Ahmad Hayat, delivered a presentation titled “Holy Prophet’s Love for Humanity.”

Hayat urged Muslims to follow the example of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) by treating all people with warmth, cheerfulness and unwavering fairness. He reminded the audience that the Holy Prophet was historically renowned for his steadfast commitment to equity across all divides.

He called on Muslims everywhere to uphold justice and fairness unconditionally, regardless of an individual’s race, tribe or religious beliefs, a message that deeply echoes the socio-political needs of modern nations worldwide.
