Adamawa residents lay siege to YEDC headquarters over two-month blackout

Residents of Girei and Song Local Government Areas of Adamawa State on Tuesday besieged the headquarters of the Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) in Yola, protesting the prolonged power outage that has left their communities without electricity for more than two months.

The protesters barricaded all entrances to the company’s office, preventing workers and customers from accessing the premises. Carrying placards and chanting solidarity songs, they demanded the immediate restoration of power supply to their communities.

The demonstration disrupted operations at the electricity distribution company’s headquarters, forcing employees to turn back as the protesters maintained their blockade.

The aggrieved residents accused YEDC of failing to fulfill repeated promises to restore electricity despite several meetings with community leaders and other stakeholders.

They vowed to sustain the protest until electricity supply is restored to the affected communities.
