Nigerian child actor Chibuchi Francis clinches bronze medal at World Entertainment Olympics

A 12-year-old Nigerian actor, Chibuchi David Francis from Aniocha South Delta state, has won a bronze medal in the Acting category (Ages 11–12) at the 2026 World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA), bringing international recognition to Nigeria at one of the world’s foremost performing arts competitions.

The championship, held from July 13 to July 21 at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States, attracted performers from more than 80 countries competing across acting, singing, dancing, modelling, instrumental performance and other creative disciplines.

Popularly described as the “Entertainment Olympics,” the annual competition provides a global platform for emerging performers while promoting cultural exchange and artistic excellence.

Chibuchi represented Team Nigeria under the leadership of Ambassador Lovethpatra White Ekufu, National Director of WCOPA Team Nigeria, Team Manager, Founder and Executive Director of Street2Fame Nigeria Performing Arts Entertainment (SNPAE), and Founder of the Black African History Global Iconic Awards (BAHGIA).

His participation at the global event was sponsored by Street2Fame Nigeria Performing Arts Entertainment, an organisation focused on identifying, training and mentoring young talents for local and international opportunities.

Speaking on the achievement, Ambassador Ekufu described the bronze medal as evidence of the enormous potential of Nigerian youth when provided with the right support.

“The Bronze Medal won by Chibuchi David Francis is proof that Nigerian youth possess world-class talent. This achievement demonstrates what is possible when young people are given the opportunity to dream, prepare and compete globally. We want Chibuchi’s achievement to inspire thousands of other young Nigerians to believe that their talent can take them beyond their communities and onto the global stage,” she said.

She added that Street2Fame remains committed to building a sustainable platform for discovering, developing and promoting talented Nigerians while calling on governments, corporate organisations, development partners, non-governmental organisations and philanthropists to support structured talent development initiatives across the country.

According to the organisation, Chibuchi’s success highlights the growing capacity of Nigerian young talents to compete favourably on the international stage and underscores the need for greater investment in the country’s creative industry.

Street2Fame said it is developing a nationwide talent ecosystem that will provide structured pathways from grassroots talent discovery and mentorship to national championships and international representation.

The organisation’s long-term vision includes annual talent discovery programmes across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, state and zonal championships, national competitions, professional training and mentorship, and regular participation of Team Nigeria at future editions of the World Championships of Performing Arts.

It also plans to expand its talent development model across Africa while positioning Nigeria as a leading hub for creative excellence, youth empowerment and cultural diplomacy.
