A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Otunba Tunji Oredipe, has donated more than four vehicles and other campaign materials to support the governorship ambition of Senator Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, ahead of the 2027 Ogun State governorship election.

Speaking during the presentation of the vehicles, Oredipe described the donation as a demonstration of his confidence in Adeola’s leadership credentials and his capacity to govern the state.

According to him, support for the senator should go beyond verbal endorsements.
“If you believe in a mission, you must invest in it. We believe in what he is doing, and our support can not be limited to words alone. We have to demonstrate it through action,” he said.

Oredipe expressed optimism that Adeola would emerge victorious in the 2027 governorship election and be sworn into office on May 29, 2027.

He argued that there was growing support across the state for the governorship to shift to the Ogun West Senatorial District, adding that Adeola had become the consensus choice for many residents.

Responding to questions on the APC’s chances in Ogun East, traditionally regarded as a stronghold of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Oredipe said political alignments were changing.

He claimed that many opposition supporters had joined the APC and expressed confidence that the party would secure at least 50 per cent of the votes cast across the state.

“Even in villages that were traditionally dominated by the PDP, many people now agree that it is time to give Ogun West a chance,” he said.

He also commended President Bola Tinubu’s administration, saying recent economic indicators and infrastructure development suggested that the country’s reforms were beginning to yield positive results.

Oredipe disclosed that the donation marked only the first phase of support for Adeola’s campaign, adding that more vehicles, branded T-shirts, caps and other promotional materials would be distributed across Ogun East, Ogun West and Ogun Central.

“Our goal is to increase his visibility across the state. This is only the first phase. We will continue until we deliver Yayi as governor,” he said.

In his response, Adeola commended Oredipe and members of his political structure for the support, describing the donation of campaign assets and an event centre for use in Ogun East as a significant boost to his political aspiration.

He said the support reflected confidence in his vision for the state and pledged to work with all stakeholders in the APC.

“I never knew that ‘everything’ included all of this. This support shows that Dr. ‘Ranti’ means well for us, and the APC family appreciates him,” Adeola said.

The senator also appealed to his supporters to maintain peace after he alleged that his convoy experienced delays and security-related restrictions while arriving at the venue of the event.

He said he had instructed his supporters and security personnel not to retaliate, stressing that his political movement would remain peaceful.

“There is nothing you want that Yayi will not do. We are peace-loving people, and I don’t want my security team harassing anybody,” he said.

Adeola urged members of different APC support groups to unite ahead of the party’s preparations for the 2027 election, promising to accommodate all interests.

He also adopted a people-centred governance blueprint presented by Oredipe, noting that it aligned with his own manifesto, which he said was titled, Governance That Works for Everyone.

The senator expressed confidence that the APC would perform strongly in Ijebu North-East and other parts of Ogun East despite the area’s history of opposition politics, saying the party’s growing support base would translate into electoral success in 2027.
