As the political scheming for next month’s gubernatorial poll in Osun intensifies, the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, has said that the future of the state can only be guaranteed with policies that can empower youths as contributors to socioeconomic developments.
This was just as the flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, visited Iwo, where he promised active collaboration with the traditional rulers for impactful governance in Osun State.
Both Basiru and Oyebamiji, who spoke at the palace of Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, on Thursday evening, urged the electorate to vote for the APC in order to attract infrastructural projects and other democratic dividends to the ancient city of Iwo.
Basiru, who charged the people of Iwo/ Ola Oluwa/Ayedire Federal Constituency to examine the enormous resources accruing to the state vis-à-vis the projects implemented by the present administration, said the people deserve value for their financial resources.
“There is an urgent need to create more opportunities for our young people through sustainable job creation, skills development, entrepreneurship support, and access to finance.
“The future of Osun cannot be secured with token gestures; it requires deliberate policies that empower the youth to become productive contributors to our economy. The choice before us is simple: a government that merely celebrates projects or one that delivers transformational development.
“Together, let us support AMBO and the APC to build an Osun where prosperity is shared, opportunities abound, and every community feels the impact of good governance, “the APC scribe stated.
Also speaking, Oyebamiji vowed to run an inclusive administration, which would actively involve traditional rulers in fostering healthy growth at the grassroots level.
According to him, “I want our Kabiyesi and our chiefs to be rest assured that by the grace of God, you’ll enjoy the government of Bola Oyebamiji; we won’t deprive you of your entitlement. Our government will not concentrate the state resources on a particular town; we will take care of everyone.”
Oyebamiji also assured that adequate compensation will be paid to property owners in Iwo affected by the construction of roads implemented by Governor Ademola Adeleke, assuring that he would abandon inherited projects.
Receiving the campaign team, Oba Akanbi appreciated Oyebamiji, Basiru and other dignitaries, saying, “The APC candidate is here today to tell my people what he wants to do for the people, and he has sworn to do better.”
“My people have listened to him, and I have blessed him with the power of God Almighty that I have, so everything is left to God Almighty, and I believe God will hear his prayers, “he posited.
