The lawmaker, representing Osun Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi, on Monday formally backed Governor Ademola Adeleke‘s re-election bid.
He noted that his administration had recorded significant success in the infrastructural facelift of Osun and delivered impactful leadership, thus laying an effective foundation for socioeconomic development.
Fadeyi, who is also the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senatorial Candidate for Osun Central in the 2027 elections, made his position known in a statement he personally signed on Monday.
The lawmaker said his endorsement reflected the confidence of PDP stakeholders and residents of Osun Central in Adeleke’s leadership and his commitment to the welfare and development of the state.
According to him, the governor had demonstrated that governance is about service and delivering tangible benefits to the people.
“This endorsement is a reaffirmation of our confidence in the Governor’s leadership and his commitment to the development and wellbeing of the people of Osun State,” Fadeyi stated.
While recalling the performance of Adeleke’s administration, Fadeyi contended that Osun had recorded visible progress in infrastructure and other key sectors, while workers and pensioners had also benefited from improved welfare measures.
“The journey over the past years has been remarkable. Governor Adeleke has demonstrated that leadership is fundamentally about service, impact and putting the interests of the people first,” he said.
He added that the administration’s achievements had strengthened the case for continuity, stressing that there was still significant work ahead that required sustained leadership.
“Across Osun State, we have witnessed significant interventions in infrastructure and other critical sectors. We have also seen greater attention to the welfare of workers and pensioners, including the prompt payment of salaries and pensions,” Fadeyi added.
Fadeyi, however, clarified that political differences must never become barriers to the development of our country, saying, “Where there are opportunities to advance the interests of our people and strengthen Nigeria, we must be prepared to work together in the national interest.
