THE Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced the arrest of a Burkinabe national identified as Ouattra Adama, alongside 11 suspected facilitators comprising eight Liberians and three Cameroonians in various parts of Lagos in a clamped down on transnational organised criminal syndicates l.

The gang known as QNET/IGNITE syndicate is allegedly linked to a fraudulent network marketing ring operating in Lagos and Ogun states.

Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the NIS, Akinsola Akinlabi made the disclosure in a statement issued Tuesday in Abuja.

He revealed that two Liberian victims were also rescued during the crackdown.

According to Akinlabi, the operation was executed based on actionable intelligence regarding the activities of trafficking syndicates across the two states.

He said “The intensified clampdown led to the arrest of the alleged syndicate leader, a Burkinabe national identified as Ouattra Adama, alongside 11 suspected facilitators comprising eight Liberians and three Cameroonians”.

Akinlabi stated that all 12 suspects and the two rescued victims have been transferred to the NIS Headquarters for further investigation and necessary legal action.

The agency therefore cautioned the public to thoroughly verify all employment, educational, business, and migration offers through appropriate channels before making financial commitments or embarking on international travel.

The spokesman emphasised that the dismantling of the syndicate demonstrates the agency’s commitment to intelligence driven border management.

“It also underscores the Service’s resolve to rid the country of all forms of irregular migration and transnational organised crimes, in tandem with the renewed hope agenda of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration,” Akinlabi added.
