Determined to reduce maternal, infant mortality and promote healthier communities in Lagos, the Rotary Club of Egbeda and the Rotary Club of Egbe, under the auspices of Rotary International District 9111, organised a health programme for expectant mothers at the Egbe/Idimu LCDA Primary Health Centre, Isheri/Olofin, Lagos.

According to the organisation, this move is part of its strategic commitment to one of its key Areas of Focus, Maternal and Child Health and efforts to improve maternal and child healthcare.

The health programme held in Lagos recently featured a health seminar on antenatal care, safe delivery, nutrition, exclusive breastfeeding, and newborn care, followed by the distribution of delivery kits to expectant mothers.

The District Governor of Rotary International District 9111, Rotarian Bukola Bakare, reaffirmed Rotary’s commitment to improving maternal and child health through community-based interventions.

Bakare, who was represented by the District Chairman, Maternal and Child Health Committee, Past Assistant Governor Ebun Atinuke, noted that the programme reflects Rotary International District 9111’s commitment to one of its key Areas of Focus—Maternal and Child Health- through strategic partnerships, health education, and humanitarian service aimed at reducing maternal and infant mortality and promoting healthier communities.

The Executive Chairman of Egbe/Idimu LCDA was represented by the Supervisor for Health, Tope Aina. Other dignitaries include the Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Babalola Olajide, alongside senior officials of the Primary Health Centre.
