President Bola Tinubu has sworn in Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoCSF), formally marking the beginning of a new leadership era in Nigeria’s federal civil service.

The president administered the oath of office to Enitan yesterday at the State House, Abuja, following his appointment as successor to Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack on August 19, 2026, to assume office on August 27.

The swearing-in ends the transition process at the top of the federal bureaucracy and formally places Enitan in charge of coordinating the government’s administrative machinery.

Enitan and his predecessor had earlier been received by President Tinubu at the State House on August 21, in what was seen as part of arrangements to ensure a smooth handover of leadership.

As Head of Service, Enitan is expected to play a central role in implementing the administration’s public service reform agenda, strengthening efficiency and accountability across the federal bureaucracy.

His emergence comes at a critical period as the Tinubu administration intensifies efforts to modernise the public service, improve service delivery and align the federal bureaucracy with its broader governance and economic reform objectives.
