• Golden Eaglets draw Cote d’Ivoire, Niger in U-17 boys’ qualifier

Nigeria’s Flamingos have been drawn into Group B of the 2027 U-17 Girls Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifying Tournament alongside regional rivals Ghana, Togo and Niger.

The tournament, which also doubles as the WAFU Zone B U-17 Girls Championship, will determine the teams that qualify to represent the zone at next year’s U-17 Girls AFCON tournament.

The Flamingos face a challenging group, with Ghana expected to provide a particularly strong test given the country’s pedigree in women’s youth football. Togo and Niger will also be looking to upset the established order and advance to the next stage of the competition.

The tournament will be hosted by Côte d’Ivoire and is scheduled to kick off on September 15, 2026.

In the boys’ category, the Golden Eaglets are drawn alongside Côte d’Ivoire and Niger in Group B of the WAFU B U-17 Championship, which will be held in Burkina Faso.

The top two teams in the group will advance to the semi-finals of the competition.
Hosts Burkina Faso will battle Ghana, Benin Republic and Togo in Group A.

The tournament will serve as the WAFU Zone B qualifying competition for the 2027 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations.

The participating teams will compete for the available qualification slots to represent the zone at the continental finals.
