The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State has dismissed reports that its structure has collapsed into the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, describing the claim as false.

The party’s Legal Adviser, Yahaya Garkuwa Esq, made the denial on Tuesday during a press conference at the PDP secretariat along Maiduguri Bypass, Bauchi.

Garkuwa said the only PDP recognised by law in Bauchi is the one led by Hon. Ibrahim Kashim Toro, while at the national level the party is under Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed.

He cited a chain of court judgments to support the claim. According to him, the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal both affirmed the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led caretaker committee as the authentic national leadership. The matter, he said, was taken to the Supreme Court, which ruled in their favour.

“Now that they don’t have anywhere to go by the judgment of the Supreme Court, they have now started impersonating that they are leaders of the PDP to tell the public that the PDP structure has been collapsed into APM,” Garkuwa alleged.

He announced that the party is preparing legal action against those parading themselves as officials. He also pointed to INEC’s publication of PDP candidates for the 2027 elections as further proof of legitimacy.

“PDP is not collapsing into any political party. PDP is still standing, PDP is still strong and is fully prepared for the 2027 general elections,” he said. The briefing was attended by the state chairman, other party officials, stakeholders and supporters.
