LASG urges civil servants to embrace continuous learning, innovation

Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu

Launches bootcamp 3.0 for officers
Lagos State Government has implored civil servants to move beyond the traditional models of training and embrace a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and measurable impact.

Head of Service, Lagos State Public Service, Bode Agoro, stated this during the commencement of three days training for officers.

The training, organised by the Ministry of Establishments and Training, dubbed Bootcamp 3.0, is for Learning and Development (L&D) Schedule Officers across the state public service.

The flagship capacity-building initiative is anchored on the theme: “From Learning to Impact: Strengthening Capacity for a High-Performing Public Service” and marks a deliberate institutional shift from traditional, box-ticking compliance training toward a metrics-driven culture focused on tangible workplace transformation, data analytics, and enhanced service delivery aligned with the T.H.E.M.E.S.+ agenda of the state government.

Agoro, in his opening address, emphasised the critical role L&D officers play as custodians of institutional knowledge and change agents, saying: “As Learning and Development Schedule Officers, you occupy a position of strategic importance. This Bootcamp 3.0 is a deliberate intervention to move beyond the traditional models of training and embrace a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and measurable impact.”

He, therefore, charged participants to return to their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) equipped to measure true Return on Investment (RoI) rather than mere workshop attendance.

Meanwhile, the state’s Commissioner for Establishments and Training, Afolabi Ayantayo, while reinforcing this vision, said that human capital remains the greatest asset under the visionary leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

He noted that building a future-ready, professional, and agile workforce requires moving away from viewing training as a mere administrative routine.

“We must now measure success by tangible performance improvements: resolving operational bottlenecks, enhancing inter-departmental collaboration, and directly translating into better, faster, and more courteous service delivery for the citizens of Lagos State,” Ayantayo noted.

Also, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Establishments and Training, Dr Olubusola Abidakun, while adding perspective on the administrative milestones of the initiative, expressed immense optimism regarding the programmatic alignment of Bootcamp 3.0.

“I am particularly happy that Bootcamp 3.0 is a reality in its budgetary year! Over the next three days, our goal is to transition our L&D officers from administrative coordinators into strategic performance architects that exhibit noble impacts through learning agility, precise needs analysis, and robust post-training evaluation,” Abidakun remarked.
