President and Group Chief Executive Officer of Transnational Corporation Plc, Owen Omogiafo, and Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Transcorp Power Plc, Peter Ikenga, have been recognised at the 2026 BusinessDay Top 25 CEOs Awards.
The executives received the recognition at an awards ceremony in Lagos, highlighting the performance of Transcorp Group and its power subsidiary.
The annual BusinessDay Top 25 CEOs Awards recognises chief executives of leading companies listed on the Nigerian Exchange, with consideration given to leadership performance, corporate governance and value creation for shareholders and other stakeholders.
Transcorp Group is a diversified conglomerate with investments across Nigeria’s power, hospitality and energy sectors.
Through Transcorp Power Plc and Transafam Power Limited, the Group has a combined installed electricity generation capacity of about 2,000 megawatts, positioning it among the country’s major power producers.
The Group’s recent financial performance has also reflected growth across its businesses.
For the financial year ended December 31, 2025, Transcorp Group recorded revenue of ₦544 billion, compared with ₦408 billion in 2024, representing an increase of 33 per cent.
Profit before tax rose by 31 per cent to ₦179.5 billion during the same period.
Transcorp Power similarly recorded higher revenue in 2025, with the electricity generation company reporting ₦398.27 billion, up 30 per cent from ₦305.94 billion in the previous year.
Its profit before tax increased by 14 per cent to ₦162.44 billion, compared with ₦142.21 billion in 2024.
The performance came amid persistent challenges across Nigeria’s electricity industry, including gas supply constraints, foreign exchange volatility and liquidity pressures within the power value chain.
Reacting to the recognition, Omogiafo attributed the achievement to employees across the Group and reiterated Transcorp’s focus on its long-term investment strategy.
“I receive this recognition on behalf of our colleagues across the Group who make my job easier,” she said.
“At Transcorp, we are laser-focused on our mission to improve lives and transform Africa. We will continue to build an institution capable of operating critical national infrastructure reliably, investing through difficult cycles, and creating durable value for shareholders, employees, customers and the communities we serve.”
Ikenga also credited Transcorp Power’s board and employees for the company’s performance.
“I share the achievement with our Board and the entire team at Transcorp Power Plc, whose unwavering commitment, resilience and pursuit of excellence continue to propel our organisation forward and drive sustainable growth,” he said.
“Our focus remains plant reliability, capacity expansion, financial and operational discipline.”
The executives thanked BusinessDay Media Limited and the Nigerian Exchange for the recognition.
Transcorp said its strategic priorities remain the expansion and optimisation of its power investments alongside continued growth of its hospitality portfolio.
