The Katsina State Police Command has presented cheques worth more than N28 million to families of deceased police officers of the command.

The cheques were presented to the families by the state Commissioner of Police, Ali Fage, at an event held at the Conference Hall of the command’s headquarters.

A statement by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Aliyu, said the presentation was part of the Inspector-General of Police’s welfare package for families of officers who paid the supreme price in the line of duty.

In his address, the Fage expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the peaceful repose of the departed officers.

The police commissioner described the deceased as gallant men who served the nation with dedication.

He urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the financial assistance to address their immediate needs and secure their future.

He also appreciated the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, for his commitment to officers’ welfare and for ensuring that the sacrifices of fallen heroes are not forgotten.

Speaking on behalf of all the beneficiaries, Alkasim Salisu expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police and the Commissioner of Police for the kind gesture.

Salisu assured that the money would be used judiciously and prayed for God’s continued guidance and protection for the Nigeria Police Force.

The statement added that the command reiterates its commitment to the welfare of officers and men, both serving and families of the deceased, in line with the policing vision of the IGP.
