Lakowe Lakes Golf & Country Estate by Newmark Hotels & Reserves is set to make golfing history this October with the Lakowe Lakes Golf Classic 2026, a landmark tournament bringing professional and amateur world ranking opportunities to Nigeria.

Taking place from 1–4 October 2026, the tournament marks another significant milestone for Lakowe Lakes and the continued development of professional golf in Nigeria, following its inclusion on the Sunshine Developmental Tour schedule.

The Sunshine Developmental Tour provides an important pathway into professional golf, creating competitive opportunities for emerging and established professionals while enabling players to gain valuable tournament experience as they progress through the international golfing landscape.

Its arrival at Lakowe Lakes brings an established professional tournament platform to West Africa, further strengthening Nigeria’s position on the regional golf map.

The Lakowe Lakes Golf Classic is expected to attract a strong international field, predominantly comprising professional golfers from across Africa, who will compete over 54 holes for a US$50,000 prize purse.

The tournament will also provide amateur golfers with an opportunity to compete for world ranking points, creating an unprecedented platform for players in Nigeria to participate in a globally recognised competitive format on home soil.

Adding further excitement to the tournament, the winner of the 2026 Lakowe Lakes Golf Classic will not only claim the title and their share of the prize purse but will also drive away in a brand-new GAC Wuling Bingo EV.

The centrepiece of the weekend will be the Escape To The Greens Gala Night on Saturday, 3 October 2026, bringing together an exclusive audience for an evening of live entertainment, elevated dining and celebration.

Headlining the evening will be Teni The Entertainer, alongside Loud Choir and MC Larry J, with guests treated to a gourmet buffet and a selection of drinks.
