Thousands of youths under the aegis of Evidence Group on Saturday staged a one-million-man solidarity walk in support of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State.
The walk, themed “We Dey Walk, E Dey Show,” kicked off from the Millennium Park, Calabar, with participants carrying banners and placards highlighting projects and programmes of the Federal and State governments.
The youths, drawn from across the 18 Local Government Areas, marched through major streets of Calabar, chanting solidarity songs and showcasing what they described as “evidence of good governance” under the APC-led administrations at both federal and state levels.
Speaking at the rally, Governor Bassey Otu, who was represented by the Deputy Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. Sylvester Agabi, thanked the youths for organizing the walk and for their confidence in the administration.
He said his administration will continue to place youths at the forefront of its programmes, noting that the Evidence Group is a commendable initiative for youth inclusion and political mobilization.
Agabi urged the youths to take the message of good governance back to their wards and local government areas and work for the victory of all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
According to him, delivering “five over five” — from Presidency to Governorship to National and State Assemblies — will give Cross River State stronger negotiating power in Abuja and attract more federal presence.
Also speaking, the Director-General of the group, Bassey Eyoma, said the aim of the movement is to place Cross River youths in the frontline of governance and development.
“The Evidence Group is about putting our youths where they belong — at the center of governance, policy and development. We are walking to show that Tinubu and Otu are working,” Eyoma said.
Earlier, the initiator of the group and Special Adviser to the Governor on Governor’s Office, Edem Bassey, said the time of the youth has come.
He said the solidarity walk was organized to showcase concrete evidence of the good works being done by President Tinubu at the federal level and Governor Otu in Cross River State, insisting that the youth must own and defend the achievements.
The walk, which brought vehicular movement around Millennium Park and adjoining routes to a standstill for hours, ended peacefully with participants pledging to mobilize across the grassroots for the APC ahead of 2027.
