The Rotary Club of Eko Signature said it has surpassed its N11 million fundraising target for community projects, with plans to improve maternal healthcare, drainage and sanitation, and provide livelihood support to residents in Lagos.

Disclosing this at her installation and the club’s Community Eco-Health Gala Night in Lagos, the Charter President, Rotarian Davina Ogbue, said donations had exceeded the target despite a change in the event’s date that affected attendance.

According to her, the strategy is simple, yet potent, to leverage Rotary’s professional networks and affiliations and fully utilise corporate synergy. She added that the club had already completed most of its sanitation projects at Victoria Island Senior Secondary School.

Sponsored by Dharmatan Nigeria Limited, the project cost about N2 million and involved the rehabilitation of the school’s sewage system and toilet facilities, the club said.

Also, the club’s Projects Director, Rotarian Adebayo Abass, said that among others, the work included repairs and replacement of toilet fittings, tiling, evacuation of the septic tank, construction of two sewage inspection chambers and installation of a new pipe route to resolve blockages.
