APC faults gov over use of Adamasingba Stadium for rally

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, yesterday, urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Sharafadeen Alli, to focus his attention on the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) governorship candidate, Bimbo Adekanbi, rather than criticising his administration.

Makinde gave the advice during the Boye Nation/JAF Movement Mega Concert held at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

The governor urged Alli to channel his energy towards the governorship contest against the APM candidate rather than attacking his administration.

The event, themed “Young, United, Unstoppable (YUU),” also served as a platform for the formal reception of popular Ibadan-based political organiser, Ajiboye Akande Sangogade, popularly known as Boye Nation, and his supporters into the APM.

Sangogade, an ally of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, led thousands of his supporters from the APC into the APM at the event.

Makinde, who is the APM’s presidential candidate, said Alli should direct his political energy towards the party’s governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 election.

Meanwhile, the Oyo State chapter of the APC has criticised Makinde over the use of the stadium for a political rally organised by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

The party described the rally as insensitive, particularly against the backdrop of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) reported rejection of the stadium for continental matches.

In a statement yesterday, Oyo APC Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, also alleged that the rally demonstrated what the party described as the Makinde administration’s poor handling of public funds.
