The Adamawa State All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders Forum, Northern Zone, has commended the contractor handling the Yola-Mubi road project, (AG Vision), for the quality of work on the completed section and urged the federal government to fast-track the award and construction of the remaining phase.

The elders made the call on Monday in Mubi through their spokesman, Mohammed Abubakar, who said the first phase of the road had been completed and appealed to the Federal Government to commence the second phase before the 2027 general elections.

Abubakar described the Yola-Mubi road as a strategic route for northern Adamawa, noting that it connects the area with the Republic of Cameroon and serves as an important corridor for commercial activities.

He said completing the project would boost trade and transportation in Mubi and strengthen economic relations between Nigeria and Cameroon.

“We must commend the contractor, AG Vision, and President Bola Tinubu for taking proactive measures to ensure that the first phase of the road is completed,” Abubakar said.

He appealed to the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, to expedite the award of the second phase, describing the completion of the project as important to the economic development of the region.

The APC elders also highlighted the security significance of the road, saying a fully reconstructed route would improve the ability of security agencies to respond to attacks and other emergencies in parts of northern and central Adamawa.

Abubakar cited Madagali, Hong and Gombi local government areas, which he said had experienced security challenges, adding that improved road infrastructure would facilitate the movement of troops and other security personnel.

“The Yola-Mubi road is important for the military and other security agencies to respond to any attack in the zone,” he said.

Meanwhile, some commercial motorists commended the contractor for the quality of work on the completed section.

A commercial motorist, Alhaji Saidu Umar, described the reconstructed road as wider and thicker than the previous road, expressing satisfaction with the work carried out by AG Vision.

Abubakar further appealed to the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, to use his office to support efforts to ensure the speedy award of the remaining phase of the project.

He alleged that some individuals were attempting to frustrate the project for political interests, while also making claims about the political activities of some APC members in the state.

According to him, the forum wants the remaining phase awarded before next year.

Investigations by our correspondent, revealed that AG Vision completed the first phase of the Yola-Mubi road project, covering about 52 kilometres, several months ago and is awaiting the award of the second and final phase.
