TravelTank, a Nigerian online travel agency, has marked its fifth anniversary, reaffirming its commitment to making travel more accessible by providing Nigerians with information, guidance and a wider range of travel options.
Founded to address gaps in the Nigerian travel market, the company said it was established to support travellers who wanted to embark on journeys but lacked the knowledge, guidance or resources to plan with confidence.
Rather than focusing solely on finding the cheapest or “best” deals, TravelTank said its approach has been to provide travellers with alternatives and relevant information to enable them make decisions suited to their individual needs.
The Chief Executive Officer and Founder of TravelTank, Yemi Smith, said the company’s experience over the past five years had reinforced the importance of building a sustainable business while remaining focused on the needs of its customers.
“The travel industry has taught us that entering the market is one thing; building something that lasts is another. Five years later, we are still serving the people we sought out to serve and investing in the future of travel,” Smith said.
According to him, since its establishment, TravelTank has expanded its services beyond flight ticketing to include hotel bookings and holidays, visa assistance, car hire, airport transfers, airport protocol services and lounge access, among other travel services.
“The company currently provides access to travel inventory from more than 100 airlines and serves travellers visiting more than 120 destinations.”
According to the company, the expansion of its service portfolio was driven by the need to provide customers with a broader travel experience rather than limiting its role to flight bookings.
“TravelTank has also expanded its physical presence beyond its Victoria Island location with the opening of an office in Ikeja, bringing its services closer to customers on the mainland.”
The company said the Ikeja office was designed to cater to customers who preferred face-to-face engagement, while its digital platform remains available to travellers who want to research and complete their bookings online.
“At the Ikeja location, customers can interact with the company’s Travel Sharks for personalised assistance with their travel plans.
“The company also occasionally offers seasonal discounts on selected travel offerings to walk-in customers.”
TravelTank said its growth over the past five years had also been accompanied by recognition within the Nigerian travel industry, including significant volume milestones recorded with major airlines operating in the Nigerian market.
As part of Akwaaba 2026, the company was recognised among the Top 100 Tour Operators, an industry recognition highlighting operators contributing to the development of travel and tourism in Nigeria.
Smith was also named among the Top Under 40 Travel CEOs as part of the recognition, placing the company’s leadership among emerging players in the travel industry.
Beyond its service expansion, TravelTank said its workforce had grown significantly since its early days.
“What began with a Business Development and Affiliate Lead has expanded into a team of more than 30 Travel Sharks, who support customers and contribute to the company’s growing operations.”
The company’s digital community has similarly expanded from about 1,000 followers in its early days to more than 20,000.
Through its digital platforms, TravelTank shares travel information, deals, destination inspiration and practical guidance with its growing audience.
As it enters its sixth year, the company said it would continue to build on the foundation established over the past five years by expanding its services, strengthening customer experience and reaching more Nigerians.
It said its founding philosophy would remain central to its operations as it continues to pursue its promise of making “Travel for Everyone.”
