Afia Media, a South-East-focused media organisation, has rescheduled the inaugural Afia Annual Lecture and Awards from November 26, 2026, to May 25, 2027, following a review of the event’s planning and coordination process.
The organisation explained that the new date would allow more time for planning, stakeholder engagement and coordination to deliver an event befitting the vision and significance of the initiative.
Themed “Uwa Bu Ahia: Trading Ideas for Development,” the inaugural edition was conceived as a platform for intellectual exchange, policy dialogue and strategic conversations on the opportunities, challenges and development priorities of Eastern Nigeria.
It is expected to attract policymakers, business leaders, academics, entrepreneurs, investors, cultural stakeholders and other influential voices for discussions on regional development, partnership opportunities and practical pathways to sustainable growth.
According to the organisers, the event will feature two major segments – the Afia Forum, which will provide a platform for policy discussions and exchanges on regional development, while the Afia Awards Gala will celebrate individuals and institutions making outstanding contributions across key sectors.
Afia Media said the initiative was designed to raise the profile of Eastern Nigeria, deepen conversations around its development and create a sustainable platform for recognising the individuals, ideas and institutions shaping the region’s future.
