The police said both suspects were in custody, adding that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Iyaganku, Ibadan, for further investigation.

It added that subsequent reports of threats by hoodlums prompted the immediate deployment of additional security personnel, including operatives of the Nigerian Army, Amotekun Corps, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and other local law enforcement components.

The command said the joint security operation had restored normalcy to the area, with sustained deployment to prevent further disturbances and protect residents.

It also disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, had directed the Area Commander, Moniya, to engage community stakeholders to address the situation and prevent a recurrence.

Acting on the directive, the Area Commander held a meeting with representatives of the Local Council Development Area, leaders of tricycle and motorcycle operators, and youth leaders to discuss practical measures for strengthening communication with security agencies and promoting peaceful coexistence.

The police commissioner urged residents of Olodo and its environs to remain calm, shun violence and embrace dialogue in resolving disagreements.

He also warned individuals or groups against fomenting trouble, inciting violence or exploiting the incident to destabilise the area, assuring residents that the command would deal decisively with anyone threatening public peace.

The command urged residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible and timely information, while reaffirming its commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
