Denver Nuggets rookie, Emmanuel Mudiay has sat out the last three weeks due to injury, but the Congolese can’t wait to get back on the basketball court again.
News of the point guard’s recovery process come at the right time for the Nuggets, whose season has been marred by injuries. Kenneth Faried is the latest victim.
Faried suffered a neck injury in Saturday’s 111-108 overtime loss to Golden State and is doubtful for coming games.
However, Mudiay, who has not played a game since exiting early in the Nuggets’ 111-108 home win over Minnesota on 11 December after suffering a sprained right ankle, feels he is ready to go.
The Nuggets insist he needs more time to get fully recovered.
“If it’s (up to) me, yeah,” he said of his prospect of returning to action. “They’re just trying to watch out and be careful.”
Mudiay was in uniform at Portland on 30 December but there was no chance he was going to play.
“I don’t know what to do with myself,” Mudiay said.
I’m pulling my hair out. At the same time God does things for a reason, that’s how I look at it. I get to watch it from a different view, the game. So I’m learning a lot in that aspect, too.”
Meanwhile, Denver,s struggle continue as they recorded a 3-8 mark with Mudiay sidelined.
Nuggets head coach Michael Malone told reporters before the game against the reigning champions Warriors that Mudiay is on track to return inside a week.
“Hopefully, we’ll get Emmanuel back in the next five to seven days, and we can get healthy in the point guard position,” Malone said.
The 19-year-old rookie has averaged 10.7 points, with 35 rebounds and 5.7 assists in 23 games.
