Abia NULGE urges council to prioritise workers’ welfare

Chairman of Ikwuano Local Government Area Chapter of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in Abia State, Martin Chizaram has urged the newly inaugurated executive chairman of the council, Dr Anthony Nwaubani to prioritise the welfare of workers in the state.

He said that doing so would ensure sustained industrial peace, harmony, progress and development during his tenure.

Chizaram gave the charge when he led his executive members on a familiarisation visit to the council.

While addressing the guests, the new chairman said his administration was already reviewing the council’s revenue collection mechanism profile, saying the outcome would positively impact on Ikwuano people and the workers.

With improved Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), the council chair said he would fix the dilapidated office buildings and structures.
He indicated that he would strive to catch up with the transformation agenda of the state’s governor, Dr Alex Otti.

Congratulating him on his emergence and successful assumption of office on behalf of other workers, Osondu Chinedu, an Environmental Health Officer said that the people of Ikwuano and the council workers look forward to him fulfilling his campaign promises and assuring him of their support and cooperation.
