Auctioneers inaugurate national task force, appoint Omeike as chairman

The Nigerian Auctioneers Group has inaugurated a National Task Force Committee to strengthen professionalism and regulatory compliance in auction activities across the country.

The 13-member committee, led by David Omeike as National Chairman, was constituted under the directive of the National Caretaker and Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Association of Auctioneers (NAA).

Other members include Adeyemo Adeyemi, Sani Mohammed, Danladi Mamman, Isah Muhammed, Sanusi Ahmad, Tari Emberru, Ebube Jackson, Eddy Imo, Eze Abraham, Umah Argungu, and Abubakar Abdullahi, who serves as secretary.

According to a statement issued by the association, the committee’s core mandate is to enforce adherence to NAA’s constitution, code of conduct, and operational guidelines.

It will also oversee compliance among practitioners, ensure only duly registered and licensed auctioneers are allowed to operate, and help curb sharp practices and unauthorised auction activities nationwide.

In addition, the task force will serve as a liaison between the association and law enforcement or regulatory agencies when required.It will also support the implementation of resolutions and directives issued by the Caretaker/Electoral Committee and the National Executive Council (NEC).

Omeike, who currently serves as the Executive Director of the International Human Rights and Dignity Defenders’ Forum (IHRDDF), is a member of the Lagos State chapter of NAA.

He is also an Assistant Commissioner of Police (Supernumerary), a certified Private Investigator, and a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), United States.

He is a member of the International Institute of Professional Securities (IIPS), ISO-SEC, Switzerland, and previously served as Chairman of the NAA Task Force for the South-West zone. He is also the Chairman/Managing Director of Cosmopolitan Security/Enquirers.
The association’s Board of Trustees (BOT) is chaired by King Alfred Papapreye Diette-Spiff, who was also the first president of the NEC.
