BHS International bags service award

Concessionaire of Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), BHS International, has been honoured best recreational service provider for 2018 by The Entrepreneurship and Empowerment Initiative of Nigeria (TEEiN).

The award is in recognition of its contributions in entrepreneurship development and employment in Nigeria.Chief Executive Officer, BHS International, Mr. Olu Adenodi, who commended the feat, said the award would spur the firm to work zealously in ensuring the TBS site becomes tourists’ most preferred destination.

He described the honour as well deserving, noting that the firm had worked tirelessly to ensure occupants of the heritage site were provided with basic facilities to facilitate their businesses.

Adenobi urged the Federal Government to include the Independence building and the former House of Assembly building as part of the concessioned areas to the firm. According to him, the firm had drawn a re-development master plan, which would project the sites as tourists most preferred destination.He said that the National Assembly building which is a 25-storey building would be transformed to African house where about 25 African countries would exhibit their culture, materials, identity and everything that makes them unique on each floor.

“The former National Assembly building, Independence building, Federal Secretariat and the TBS should be put under a single umbrella to be re-developed by us so that the redevelopment process can go round.”

BHS emerged the preferred bidder in 2008 after a competitive bid process and won a 30-year concession to re-develop, manage and transform the TBS into a one-stop tourist centre.He added that the re-development would boost inbound tourism and the socio-economic activities around the TBS.
