CBAN’s new chairman assumes office

Chief Executive Officer of CRC Credit Bureau Limited, Dr. ‘Tunde Popoola, has resumed duties as Chairman, Credit Bureau Association of Nigeria (CBAN).

Chief Executive Officer of CRC Credit Bureau Limited, Dr. ‘Tunde Popoola, has resumed duties as Chairman, Credit Bureau Association of Nigeria (CBAN). 
  
His tenure will run from January to December 2021 and renewable after two years.

The leadership of CBAN rotates among Managing Directors and Chief Executive Officers of the three licensed Credit Bureaux and runs for one year. Before now, he was previously the Chairman of the Association in 2015 and 2018.
 
Popoola, a banker, accountant, an economist, has over 30 years of cumulative work experience spanning the public and the private sectors of the economy.
 
He has been the Managing Director/CEO of CRC Credit Bureau Limited since its establishment in 2008. Before this, he was also the pioneer CEO of the Abuja Enterprise Agency (AEA).

  
He was in the banking industry where he rose to the position of the Chief Finance Officer and General Manager of a second-generation bank and was at the forefront of the development of the credit reporting system in Nigeria and Africa.
 
Speaking on his focus, he said he would prioritise creating more awareness on the credit bureau industry with several initiatives, specifically designed to fulfill this purpose.

“We have received support from the World Bank Group and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on promoting on-boarding of all categories of financial institutions under CBN’s supervision, like credit information suppliers and users,” he stated.
