‘Digital skills key to youths self reliance, productivity’

Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Adeniyi Adebayo, has urged youths to embrace entrepreneurship and digital skills as a means to achieve self reliance and high productivity.

Adebayo spoke via zoom during the Igbinedion University Okada (IUO) 2022 Information Communications and Technology (ICT) week with the theme, ‘Emerging Smart Campus Hub: Deployment of Disruptive Technology Platform’.

He commended the institution for taking the lead in championing digital literacy and empowering students with digital skills toward the enthronement of good governance and a thriving economy.

He said the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration was committed to providing quality education vis-a-vis digital literacy to ensure employment and productivity of the nation’s army of unemployed youth.

On his part, Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Lawrence Ezemonye, said the theme was apt, stressing that a smart campus was an emerging trend that allows educational institutions to combine technologies with physical infrastructure for improved services in the area of teaching, learning and general operations.
