MWUN leader seeks collaboration, Adeyanju heads BOT

The new President General (PG) of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Francis Bunu, has called on stakeholders in the maritime industry to collaborate with the union to guarantee industrial peace.

He made the call in his acceptance speech when the union elected new national executives at its sixth Quadrennial National Delegates Conference in Lagos.
This is just as its outgone president, Adewale Adeyanju, also emerged as the union’s pioneer Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT).

While Bunu called on stakeholders in the maritime industry to collaborate with the union, he said the newly elected national executives needed to work with the BOT side by side to further move the union to greater heights.

He said Adeyanju’s emergence as the BOT chairman was in line with the union’s constitution, stating that henceforth, any outgoing president-general of the union automatically emerges as head of the board.

Bunu expressed satisfaction over the industrial peace that existed during the electioneering process, stating that the immediate past President General’s sterling performance locally and internationally would not be forgotten in a rush.

Speaking also, Adeyanju called on members from the four branches of MWUN to work closely with the new PG, urging the new national executives to imbibe and cultivate the spirit of teamwork.

According to him, the Bunu administration has what it takes to surpass the past administrations, considering the calibre of personalities in the new executives.

He urged that continuity should be the watchword under the new administration, even as he appealed to the union members to accord him that respect.
