This year’s Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC) presidential dinner and awards seeks to celebrate business leadership and bilateral relationships excellence as well as networking opportunities with some of the best in corporate Nigeria.

At a press conference, the Chairman of the Presidential Dinner Committee, Tajudeen Ahmed, said the event, opened to members and non-members, would create a platform for high-level networking among operators of Nigeria’s business community and highlight the organisation’s leading role in fostering closer business ties between Nigeria and Britain.

Taking off on November 20 in Lagos, Ahmed added that while the event offers a new vista and reinvigorates bilateral relationships between both countries, it would also offer opportunities for businesses to expand their frontiers.

A member of the committee, Dr Ikenna Nwosu, said this year’s event is significant as it came at a time when Nigeria and the United Kingdom just signed two bilateral agreements.

The move, Nwosu said, would improve the market share of trade and investment between both countries.

According to him, the trade mission to the United Kingdom was successful, and the British Trade Centre would promote business between both countries.

NBCC Director-General, Dr Ebere Njokwu, said the dinner, which is the first under the leadership of the chamber’s President and Chairman of Council, Ray Atelly, would highlight some of the programmes that stand out under his administration within one and a half years.

She noted that one of the achievements of Atelly’s administration includes the incorporation of the non-governmental organisation (NGO) for women and youths’ skill enhancement. So far, she said, they have screened 4000 candidates and have shortlisted about 300 while the second cohort would graduate by the end of November.
