PalmPay has been named Digital Payments Platform of the Year at the 2026 BusinessDay Banks and Other Financial Institutions (BAFI) Awards, in recognition of its contributions to digital payments and financial inclusion in Nigeria.
The award was presented at the ceremony held on October 9, 2026, at the Civic Centre, Lagos, by Frank Aigbogun, publisher and co-founder of BusinessDay.
Since its launch in Nigeria in 2019, PalmPay has developed a digital financial services platform that enables customers to make payments, pay bills and access other financial services.
The company said it currently serves more than 35 million users in Nigeria, supported by a network of merchants and agents facilitating digital transactions across the country.
Commenting on the recognition, Managing Director of PalmPay Nigeria, Chika Nwosu, said the award reflected the company’s commitment to developing financial services that address the everyday needs of Nigerians.
“We are honoured to receive the Digital Payments Platform of the Year award at the BAFI Awards. Digital payments have become an important part of how Nigerians manage their finances, run businesses and carry out everyday transactions,” he said.
Nwosu added that the recognition underscored PalmPay’s commitment to making financial services more accessible, reliable and secure for its customers.
He said the company’s role in advancing financial inclusion extended beyond facilitating transactions to equipping customers with the tools, information and support needed to use digital financial services confidently and securely.
The company’s consumer protection efforts include its ongoing PalmPay Dey For You campaign, which educates customers about the platform’s security features and promotes safer digital financial practices.
As more Nigerians adopt digital channels for financial transactions, the company said, strengthening consumer confidence and protecting users against potential risks would remain important to expanding participation in the digital economy.
The recognition comes amid growing adoption of digital payment services in Nigeria, where fintech platforms and other financial service providers are seeking to improve access to convenient payment options for individuals and businesses.
PalmPay said it would continue to invest in technology, security and customer experience as it seeks to expand access to reliable digital financial services in Nigeria and its other markets.
