Leading traditional rulers under the auspices of the Association of Christian Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (AOCTRON) met in Abuja to discuss the state of the association and resolved to restructure and reposition the organization for greater effectiveness in the achievement of its set aims and objectives.

They reconstituted the ten-member Board of Trustees with His Majesty, Orcivirigh Professor James Ortese Iorzua Ayatse, Tor Tiv and Chairman of the Benue State Council of Traditional Rulers as the President and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of AOCTRON.

The Board of Trustees (BOT) also considered the positions in the National Executive Committee and approved the composition of the Southern and Northern blocs of the association each to be headed by a National Vice President. The Northern bloc is headed by HRM Dr Da Jacob Gyang Buba, Gbong Gwon Jos and Chairman of Plateau State Council of Traditional Rulers. The Southern bloc is headed by His Royal Majesty, King Dandeson Douglas Jaja, Amanyanabo of Opobo and Chairman Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers. The two Vice Presidents are to ensure the proper restructuring and revitalization of their blocs.

The BOT also reviewed the state of the Nigerian nation and the current insecurity challenges and resolved to organize national prayers for the nation in collaboration with their Muslim Traditional rulers.

The BOT lead by the President, His Royal Majesty Professor James Ortese Iorzua Ayatse, paid a courtesy call on the Sultan of Sokoto and Chairman of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria, Alhaji Abubakar Sa’ad, to brief him and held useful discussions with him on the planned national prayer activities of the association.
