The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) has congratulated Dr. Akinwumi Adesina on his re-election as President of the African Development Bank (AfDB).
The union equally warned him to be cautious of fake whistleblowers.
A statement by the President and Secretary-General of TUC, Quadri Olaleye, and Musa-Lawal Ozigi, respectively, said it would be unwise to think that people who occupy such positions should not have “enemies”.
They alleged that it was obvious the smoke to dint his image and remove him from re-contesting as president of the AfDB came from within, adding that, “It is not to say he should start making enemies instead of doing his duties.”
The union said it was overjoyed with the report of the investigation panel, which said Adesina was cleared of all controversial corruption charges after facing questions from a panel on the affairs of AfDB where he was returned unopposed.
It maintained that, as an organisation interested in good governance, there were many lessons people in authority, especially in Nigeria, must learn from the good qualities of Adesina.
While congratulating him and wishing him more of God’s grace, the union said, “Here is a man that understands his duty, and is committed to doing it. As an ex-minister, he left a mark in the sector he supervised. As a man of excellence, whatever he touches, he transforms.

He does it with an acute sense of duty and commitment. His rare qualities are lacking in most people in government in Nigeria, nay Africa today.”
