It was yet another historic visit when the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi played host to the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, and his entourage in his palace.

It was yet another historic visit when the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi played host to the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, and his entourage in his palace.

Flanked by other monarchs from the kingdom, the Vice President’s campaign train, consisting of the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dapo Abiodun, his deputy, former deputy governors, Adegbenga Kaka and Prince Segun Adesegun, Senator Gbenga Obadara, and other chieftains of the party in the state, were joyfully received by the monarch.

The visit was historic in the sense that the occasion was used to kick-start the APC Presidential Campaign in Ogun State, and to seek royal blessing from the monarchs, ahead of the February 6, 2019 presidential election. After a brief closed-door meeting, followed by a meeting with other monarchs, the Akarigbo and his guests held a township meeting with members of the over 33 communities, which makes up Remoland.

At the meeting with the monarchs, Osinbajo said he was kicking off the campaign in remoland, being his source, soliciting prayers of monarchs in the area for the party to win the presidential election convincingly.

“There is no time that I have ever come here without seeing these monarchs present. In 2015, you did same, you supported us and we won. If not for your support, we’ll be saying something else. It was ordained by God that remo will provide the Vice President and He’ll not take it from us.

“I want to thank Akarigbo, there is a scripture passage that says where there is no vision the people perish, we thank God for giving our monarch vision of how to move remo forward among the Yoruba nation,” he said. While addressing the crowd of jubilant supporters at the township meeting, the vice president said Remoland would be earmarked for unprecedented development like never before.

“There is federal presence in Remo and there can be more. All we need is your continued support to maximise our vision not only here, but also in the entire nation. We are constructing the Ikorodu-Sagamu Road. The contract for that road was awarded barely six months ago and when completed will help ease traffic within this axis.

“The renovation of the Sagamu-Benin Expressway is ongoing and the Remo water scheme is another one we hope to complete very soon. We are also increasing the capacity of the Sagamu Transmission Power Station. We are doing more transmission lines to boost power supply in Remoland.

“There are many things we have sidelines for the development of Remoland and once infrastructure is improved, investment will come in naturally,” Osinbajo said.He advised the youths in the area to key into the Federal Government’s N-Power scheme, saying over 500,000 graduates and 20,000 non-graduates were already benefiting. The Akarigbo, Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, said since the Vice President hails from remoland, they have no choice than to mobilise and vote en masse during the presidential election.

“I have spoken with the Vice President and he assured me that remo will be in the limelight during the second term in office.“I am appealing to other monarchs to preach the gospel to their people. I am passionate about government at the national level and I know what we have witnessed. I pray we’ll not go back to those terrible days again.”
