The book launch will feature an enthralling conversation with the author, reviews, dance and poetry interludes, wine and dine in the serene atmosphere of the Freedom Park; an iconic art hub, famous for its arrays of artistic events.

Published by Grand Touch Media Services Ltd, the debut novel, Behind the Doors of Fate, is a modern-day tale of two souls forced together by circumstances, only to find solace and love in the most improbable of unions.

The interesting novel focuses, among other topical issues, the importance of equal opportunity for male and female children in a world that has limited prospects for all.

Talking of the thematic preoccupations, Alum highlights the age of uncertainty and disruptive awakening as one of the book’s concerns, emphasising “in an unpredictable age where culture and tradition seem to be on shifting grounds, equal educational opportunity has become indispensable for both the boy and girl child.”

A consultant agronomist, entrepreneur and a marketplace minister for Christ, Alum, while fielding questions from journalists in Lagos, reveals: “The book started as one of my many ‘Bedtime Stories’ as ‘Sold Into Early Marriage’. As the narrative evolved, many of my followers began clamouring for an appropriate title for such a life-impacting story. The idea of how the faith and resilience of the major characters impacted and shaped the fate that befell them contributed to the choice of the title, Behind the Doors of Fate.”

Dr. Isaac Ogbonna, however, observes: “The story also shows that the challenge of life and spiritual death or upliftment lies in the path we choose to follow. It further proves that experience is the best teacher, which has taught us that resentment and negative thoughts deepen the darkness around those who prefer that path while those who stand, even as the storm rages, find a flickering light at the end of the tunnel. Despite the obvious unfavourable circumstances surrounding her, Adaeze chooses her path wisely, and what sets out to consume her ends up bringing the best out of her.”
