2027: Atiku opens direct question channel for Nigerians ahead of poll

Atiku

With the 2027 presidential election approaching, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has introduced a new platform through which Nigerians can question him directly about his political record, policy proposals and plans for the country.

The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is launching the citizen-engagement initiative, tagged Ask AA, to give voters an opportunity to seek answers on issues that affect their daily lives, including the economy, security, job creation, technology and the rising cost of living.

According to a statement issued by Phrank Shaibu, Director of Strategic Communication for the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, the platform is scheduled to go live at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Under the initiative, Nigerians will be able to submit questions on matters concerning the country’s development and Atiku’s proposed approach to addressing some of its pressing challenges.

The former vice-president is expected to respond personally to questions submitted through the platform, with members of his media team also assisting in providing answers.

The initiative is intended to establish a direct channel between Atiku and members of the public, allowing voters to seek clarification on his positions and proposed policies rather than relying solely on campaign statements and public appearances.

Shaibu said the platform was designed to make the candidate more accessible to Nigerians and encourage engagement around practical solutions to the country’s challenges.

“The objective of this initiative is to bring Atiku Abubakar closer to the electorate through a practical, problem-solving platform,” he said.

He added that the initiative reflected Atiku’s commitment to using modern technology to make governance more efficient, secure and effective.

The launch comes as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general election, with candidates and political parties seeking to communicate their programmes, attract supporters and convince voters of their capacity to lead the country.

For Nigerians, the issues expected to feature prominently on the platform are among the concerns shaping public debate ahead of the election. Economic pressures, employment opportunities, insecurity and the affordability of basic necessities remain important subjects for voters seeking clear answers from those aspiring to govern.

By creating a channel for direct questions, Atiku’s campaign is seeking to provide an avenue for citizens to engage with his proposals and demand explanations about his political record and future plans.

However, the platform’s impact will depend on how accessible it is to Nigerians, the range of questions it accommodates and the extent to which the responses provide specific, verifiable answers to the issues raised.

The announcement does not detail how questions will be selected, whether all submissions will receive individual responses or how frequently the candidate will engage with users after the launch.

As the 2027 election approaches, the platform offers Atiku an additional avenue to present his agenda to the electorate while giving Nigerians an opportunity to seek answers on matters they consider important to the country’s future.
