Police debunk kidnap claims, confirm DCP Khan Salihu died of illness

Lagos State Police Command

The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed reports alleging that the late Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Khan Salihu, was kidnapped before his death, describing the claim as false, misleading, and entirely unfounded.

According to the Command, the senior officer was never abducted or involved in any kidnapping incident prior to his passing. It explained that DCP Salihu reportedly complained of feeling unwell and was promptly taken to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead by medical personnel.

The Command expressed concern over the circulation of what it described as an unverified and irresponsible publication, noting that such misinformation has caused unnecessary distress to the family, colleagues, and the public. It stressed that the officer’s death was purely medical and not linked to any criminal activity.

The police further urged media organisations to verify sensitive information before publication and called on the public to disregard the false report, reaffirming its commitment to providing accurate and timely updates through official channels.
